Introduction to human behaviour

This section of the eLearning tutorial addresses a set of human behaviours that are implicated in avoidable clinical error. Explicit awareness of these behaviours facilitates good medical care and may decrease error.

We will explore the following areas:

  • communication
  • decision making
  • leadership and management
  • teamwork and co-operation
  • situation awareness.

Communication is the key skill that underpins all of these areas.
