Medical ethics

Medical ethics is a branch of medicine and philosophy that deals with the incorporation of an individual's interests, societal values, legal issues and moral arguments into medical practice.

The ‘four principles’ approach is as follows:

  1. respect for autonomy
  2. beneficence
  3. non-maleficence
  4. justice.
