The method for rotation is the same whether the position is OT or OP.
Rotation should be performed when the uterus is relaxed, between contractions.
If difficulty is encountered, the procedure should be abandoned.
The head is then disimpacted from the pelvis to create space to rotate the baby. The handles of the forceps should be pressed downwards towards the bed (shank towards the coccyx). Then gently push upwards to displace the head approximately one centimeter above the original station.
