Kielland's forceps are unique in their design, having minimal pelvic curve allowing them to rotate around a fixed axis, and a sliding lock to allow correction of asynclitsm.
An important landmark of the Kielland's forceps are the small metal knobs on the handle. These knobs signify the anterior surface of the forceps and should always point towards the occiput. It is therefore cruicial that you know the position of the head. The knobs assist with orientation and application of the forceps.
