Accessing StratOG edition one (paper-based)

Unfortunately a previous purchase of StratOG (edition one) does not mean you have access to this online edition of StratOG. StratOG (edition one) and the accompanying online component are no longer supported by the RCOG. New improvements include:

  • interactive assessment with instant feedback
  • the facility to save assessment scores
  • links to guidelines and reading material
  • streamed videos of procedures and scans
  • animations to simplify complex principles
  • the facility to attach reflective notes to web pages

Online lectures

Are the online lectures available as a member benefit?

No, although some of the online lectures are freely available. The remaining lectures are freely available to delegates who have attended the meetings and available for purchase by other StratOG users.

I’m having problems redeeming my access code to view the lectures

This video outlines how to redeem an access code on StratOG. Please note that you only need to enter the access code once, and not every time you log-in to StratOG. If you continue to have problems with the access code, please email the StratOG team with details of the lectures that you are trying to access.

I get an error message when I try to view the lectures

The online lectures should work on any internet enabled device. As they require Silverlight to run, it is important to ensure that Microsoft Silverlight is installed on all of the devices you are trying to watch the lectures on. Silverlight is available here.

Will I get instant access to the lectures once I have purchased them online?

Yes, once purchased the content should be unlocked and you should be able to view the lectures immediately.

What is the recommended browser for watching the online lectures?

We’d recommend that you watch the lectures on Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Is it possible to download the online lectures?

The lectures are currently only available to view online and cannot be downloaded to view offline.

Can I claim CPD points for watching the lectures?

Those registered on the RCOG CPD Programme may claim 1 CPD credit for each eLecture, if they complete a reflective learning form. A reflective learning form is built in the CPD ePortfolio under the personal/professional category. For more information, see the CPD page.

Can I download a certificate to show that I have watched the lectures?

Yes, this is possible via the learning history function on StratOG. See the following video for further information. Unfortunately it is not currently possible for the length of time you have spent watching a lecture to be recorded on the certificate.

When will the lectures for the meeting I attended be made available?

We try to make lectures available as soon as possible after a meeting. If you would like to know when lectures from a particular meeting will be available, please email the Conference office.

Learning history

How do I track my progress through the core training eTutorials?

In each eTutorial, pages either count towards your progress (e.g. reading pages, assessments) or don't count towards your progress (e.g. introduction page, e-tutor profile). You can record your progress through an eTutorial by clicking on the button 'I have completed this page' that appears at the bottom of every reading page that counts towards your progress.

For assessments, you only need to complete these and submit your answers for that page to count towards your progress.

You can track your progress using My learning history. This page lists all of the available eTutorials, your progress and links to your learning history and reflective notes.

In addition, on every page within the eTutorial on the top right-hand side under the eTutorial name, are links to your learning history. This page displays the pages complete, pages yet to complete and your assessment scores. You can print a copy of your learning record or save as a PDF and upload to your ePortfolio.

Note, your percentage of complete pages will change with any new addition/subtraction of pages made to each eTutorial when they are reviewed; that is, once an eTutorial has been completed at 100%, this percentage may be recalculated with revision of the eTutorial.

Learning records are recommended to be printed at the time of completion.

Will I get a certificate?

Once you have completed an eTutorial you can print your learning record. Your learning record shows your progress, e.g. 100% (of the eTutorial has been completed) and your assessment scores. On your learning history page for each eTutorial, you can print a copy of your learning record or save as a PDF and upload to your ePortfolio.

If you are presenting the certificate for a course, you will have to check with your learning provider whether this is applicable for your course.

Accessibility

I'm having trouble viewing StratOG

Have you got the latest updated version of your browser?

We have upgraded our site to address a security issue linked to use of old browsers such as IE6. We had to address this issue to ensure that information about our members is kept safe and secure. This means anyone trying to access our sites via IE6 are unable to do so.

To access StratOG you will need to upgrade your version of Internet Explorer or install an alternative browser. If you are using a NHS computer, you may need to ask your IT department to do this.

Information about how to install a new browser or upgrade is available online:

We cannot take any responsibility for the software available on these sites.

How can I increase the text size?

To change the text size in Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, select View, then Zoom or Text Size, or you can use Ctrl + and Ctrl -.

For more information about vision impairment guides, see Microsoft's accessibility guides on ways to adjust your computer or see available technology products.

I'm having trouble viewing animations and videos in the eTutorials

Some of our animations and videos on the website are SWF files that require Flash software in order to be viewed. It may be worth checking that you have Flash installed, or that you have the latest version of Flash. Not all videos require this; therefore, you may be able to view other website videos without Flash.

You can download Flash software for free from the Adobe website.

Although the Adobe website is well-known and recognised, we cannot take any responsibility for the software available on their site.

I'm having trouble viewing online presentations

If you are having trouble viewing online presentations, please contact StratOG with details of the error and include information about what platform you are using, e.g. Windows XP, and what browser and version you are using, e.g. Firefox 3.6.

We now offer Flash and HTML versions for most of the online presentations on StratOG.  If you are using a tablet or mobile device you may find that the HTML version of the lecture is most appropriate. The recommended browser for viewing HTML versions of online presentations is Google Chrome.

Can I use StratOG on my Smartphone?

You can view StratOG on a smartphone like any other website. We don't have an application available at this time. Please note some of our animations and videos on the site are SWF files, which require Flash software in order to be viewed.
